Abstract

The production of clinical trial reports is a reliable marker of the researches development in the human health sector. With the aim to quantify and to characterize the production of clinical trial reports of Cuba in the PubMed database, during the decade 1999-2008, we determine the number and distribution of that according to the institutions, journals and substances. The total number of reports processed by PubMed ascended to 147. The most productive institution was the Centro de Investigaciones Médico Quirúrgicas, from Havana, whereas the most prolific journal was the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacology Research, from Switzerland. Polycosanols were the most studied substance. The production of clinical trial reports in PubMed don't reflects neither qualitative nor quantitative activities developed in Cuba on this sector of the health investigations.
