Authority control is carried out through a series of operations that allow making an authority record. The authority record is established when the variant of the name to be used for all the catalog entries is defined; in other words, the authorized form or agreed authority. The present research defines from the conceptual viewpoint the term authority control and its characteristics and objectives and describes the procedures for application to the names of Cuban authors in the field of Health Sciences. The conceptual design of the catalog of authorities of Cuban authors 'names in Health Sciences is defined.
