Resumen
RODRIGUEZ SANCHEZ, Yamila et al. Coronary atherosclerosis in patients with acute myocardial infarction. AMC [online]. 1998, vol.2, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1025-0255.
A longitudinal, observational and descriptive study was carried out on a sample of 28 deceased of acute infarction of myocardium so as to determine the affection level of the atherosclerotic lesion in the right coronary arteries, anterior descending artery and left circumflex artery applying the Atherometric System. Descriptive statistic was used for characterizing patients according to the age group, sex, atherosclerotic risk factors, complications and localization of the infarction. The large epicardic arteries were more injured in the 56 to 70 years-old group. The masculine sex was more affected in the right coronary arteries and left circumflex artery. Obese and diabetic patients had greater atherosclerotic injury in the three arteries. Atherosclerosis was more severe in patients with supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias. In mechanical complications, cardiogenic shock and cardiac breakage had a significant affection of the three arteries. The right coronary artery was the most injured one in the posterior and lateral wall infarctions; while the left circumflex artery was in the anterior and posteroinferior wall.
