Resumen

The aim of this work was to value the levels of serum thyroid hormones in patients with hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease, for knowing possible modifications in the area of metabolism 34 patients admitted in the Intermediate Therapy Room of "Manuel Ascunce Domenech" Clinico -Surgical Hospital of Camagüey were studied with the clinical and laboratory diagnosis of such entity. The study group was composed of 15 patients of masculine sex and 19 of femenine. It was divided into two age groups, from 16 to 46 years and over 47, those with some known endocrine affection were excluided of this work. Blood samples were taken by superficial venous puncture during the first 24 hours after admission. The control group was formed by healthy persons of both sexes and of the same age group. Thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) were lower than in the control-group, 83,9% of the cases had low values; significant difference was not found among both sexes In patients older than 46 years, the increase of T4 was higher. Concluding, patients with hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease have modifications in serum thyroid hormones levels, due to the decrease of T3 and increase of T4, independent of sex and age.
