A prospective and longitudinal study was performed in a health area of Camaguey municipality with the aims of determining the frequency of intestinal parasitism during the period from September 1996 to June 1997. The study universe composed of 300 subjects elected through ramdomized selection. Three samples of stools by individual were collected, which were processed in the Parasitology Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Microbiology Provincial Centre of our city as to normal techniquesof the country. The importance of serial examinations in the screening of parasitism was shown.
