Abstract

CUBA YORDI, Olga Lidia; DURAN MATOS, Mayda  and  GARCIA BARRIOS, Clara. Pyelokaliceal system of the kidney in humans anatomic study. AMC [online]. 2000, vol.4, n.4. ISSN 1025-0255.

With the aim of studying the pyelokalicaliceal system of the kidney in humans and discovering anatomic characteristics of the elements of this system, 150 anatomic pieces were studied by the macromicrodissection method chosen from the Department of Pathological Anatomy of Manuel Ascunce Domenech Provincial Hospital and from the Legal Medicine Department of Amalia Simoni Hospital, all considered normal. Morphological and statistic analysis of the results allowed the determination of the great varibility of the pyelokalicaliceal system which has constant and symmetric formations. Minor kalices range from 5 to 11 and are numerous at the ends of the kidney while the major ones are more frequent in three number and in lasser quantity in two number, they may be of four types, and the long and wide form prevailed. By the other hand, the renal pelvis has bulging form , its variants were not of form but of situacion, three types were found: intrarenal, extrarenal and mixed, the last one was the more frequent. It is proved dependece among the situation of the pelvis and the form of the major kalices. This allowed us the classification of pyelokalicial systems in 6 groups with variants generally for each one.
