Abstract

ALVAREZ LOPEZ, Alejandro; CASANOVA MOROTE, Carlos; SANCHEZ OLAZABAL, Lázaro  and  MANUEL BUENO, Pedro. Non ossifying fibroma. Study of 10 years. AMC [online]. 2001, vol.5, n.5. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study is performed in a number of 19 patients diagnosed and treated for non ossifying fibroma (NOF) in Ëduardo a Agramonte Piña" Provincial Hospital within the period from 1988 to 1998. Masculine sex significantly prevailed (68%) upon the femenine. The age group most affected was that of 11 to 15 years with 68% . The main element for the diagnosis was the radiological finding in 47% followed by pain and increase of volumen in 21% each one. Only 11% presented pathological fracture. The most frequent localization was found in the metaphysial zones closer to the knee, distal third of femur (41%), proximal third of tibia (26%). The sise of tumor that prevailed ranges from 1 to 3 cms in 53% of cases.
