With the aim of knowing cancer characteristics in Camagüey province, a cross-sectional, descriptive study was carried out with the universe of deceased for cancer in this territory. Mortality analysis was performed according to net rates for 100 000 inhabitants every five years: 1976-1980, 1981-1985, 1986-1990, 1991-1995. The study was done by lacalizations: lung, prostate, colon, breast, cervix. Life years potentially lost were obtained as to the age groups, for municipalities in percentages. It is observed that Minas and Sibanicú together with Esmeralda, Camagüey, Florida and Guáimaro in the last five years, are those of higher risk for cancer death. So, geography of cancer in our province is concentrated in the central area from east to west, spreading to the north.
