Abstract

Whith the aims of evaluating the effectiveness of body acupunture in the treatment of anxiety according to the traditional diagnosis, identifying the most frequent syndromes, assessing clinical evolution of symptoms in the third, sixth, and tenth session of acupunctural treatment and estimating the results through IDARE'S test at the beginning and the end of treatment, a clinical, phase II, open, no - sequential eassy was carried out at the Natural and Traditional Clinic of Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja " Hospital of Camagüey, during the period from to july 1999, after applying criterio of inclusion and exclusion the sample was composed of 50 patients. The acupunctural scheme was selected as to the traditional diagnosis with excess or failure of heart, liver and spleen. It was an outpatient treatment, neddles were placed indicated points during 20 minutes, dispersing or tonifying, according to prescriptions of each of them. Clinical evolution was performed at third, sixth, and tenth sessions, as well as IDARE'S test at the beginning and at the end of treatment. An effectiveness of 98% was obtained in this pathology, excess syndrome is the most frequent cause of anxiety and liver meridian was most affectd, symptons improved in the third and are eliminated in the tenth. In both syndromes anxiety levels decreased in the treatment applied.
