Abstract

PILA PEREZ, Rafael; PILA PELAEZ, Rafael; SUAREZ SORI, Boris  and  RODRIGUEZ LOPEZ, Aquiles. Colorectal carcinoma in patients younger than fourty years old. AMC [online]. 2002, vol.6, n.4, pp.381-390. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive study of patients diagnosed for colorectal neoplasm, younger than fourty years was performed at Manuel Ascunce Domenech and Amalia Simoni Hospitals of Camagüey city, from 1992 to 2000, both included. The diagnosis was based on the pathohistologic study of patients operated or deceased for this entity in this period. It is stressed that there was no difference as to sex, with prevalence of white skin patients, but it is reported the high frecuency of black skin patients, uncommon in our country; and those of urban areas. Localization and clinic have no differences as to the outlined in literature, as well as diagnostic means. It is stated the higher frequency of adenocarcinoma among these patients with their pathohistologic characteristics, and the prognostic value of the stage, according to Turbunll et al. Sixteen patients were surgically intervened, operatory mortality was null.
