Abstract

REYES DIAZ, Wilfredo Dimas. Experience and impact of work of the Cuban medical brigade in the southern part of Honduras. AMC [online]. 2002, vol.6, n.4, pp.414-425. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out about the experiences and impact achieved by a Cuban medical brigade in Honduras, Centroamerica, territories after the severe spanking of Mitch huracane. This study describes geographic, demographic, and sociocultural characteristics of countries and characterized the health system of Honduras and its results. It analyzed the work performed by a multidisciplinary team of Cuban doctors and the exposition of experiences, attainments and impact gained in the assistance preventive context. It was shown the introduction and surgical activities that were not performed previously in the territory. Results in the mother-infant program and in the control of infections diseases involved population acknowledgement, health secretary and government of this country.
