Abstract

RIOS PEREZ, Jimmi. Possible causes of bad prognosis of patients with pancreatic neoplasms in our hospital. AMC [online]. 2002, vol.6, n.6, pp.632-639. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out with the aim of investigating possible causes of bad prognosis of pancreatic neoplasms at Manuel Ascunce Domenech Provincial Hospital in Camagüey, from 1995 to 1997. After the study of medicle records, necessary variables were gathered with the analisys of them, it was obtained the: 53, 4 % of patients presented an evolution time of clinical manifestations greater than 15 days, 100 % of patients was assisted before admission, with different diagnosis of the disease, in the 70 % of patients the diagnosis at admission was negative, 35 % presented a preoperative time greater than 15 days. Perioperatory mortality was 43, 3 %. During investigation, casual elements modifiable dependent of patient, doctor that assists and the objective of improving prognosis of patients suffering for pancreatic neoplasm.
