Abstract

CASTRO PERDOMO, Fernando E  and  CARBONELL PERDOMO, Demetrio J. Syndrome of attention dficit disorder with hyperactivity. Neuropsychiatric assessment and treatment response to methylphenidate. AMC [online]. 2003, vol.7, n.2, pp.159-167. ISSN 1025-0255.

A cross-sectional descriptive study was performed to children aged from 6 to 12 who come to the psychiatric and neurologic consultation in Camagüey Pediatric Policlinic complaining of attention deficit syndrome and hyperactivity, from 1997 to 2000, with the objective of assessing. The sample was taken from the existing medical records as primary datum including a total number of 120 patients suffering from the ADS-H in the period. Results showed prevalence of male sex (70,83 %), family history of ADS-H combined type. According to de DSM-IV criteria. A suitable treatment with psychostimulants (methylphenidate), was likewise found relevant with 81,37 % of patients.
