Abstract

A patients who died in prolonged hypoxia due to respiratory distress 15 days post birth, as a consequence of a congenital diaphragmatic hernia consequence of a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (Bochdalek's hernia) was presented. Medical literature was reviewed and it was emphasized the need of the prenatal ultrasonographic diagnosis of this congenital anomaly, as well as he importance of the fact the birth of these patients should be in an adequate institution for performing early surgery so as improve the prognosis.
