A descriptive study was carried out at Manuel Ascunce Domenech Provincial Teaching Hospital in all patients diagnosed with primary lung cancer from 1996 to 2000 so as to know how the diagnosis of this neoplasia behave The study universe was of 269 patients information was gathered from clinical charts and was reflected in a survey with the following variables: radiologic forms, histologic variants, time elapsed among the first symptom and the diagnosis ,and diagnostic forms used. The most frequent radiologic forms were: pneumonic (36.98%) and pleurisy (20.8%). Adenocarcinoma (34.21%) and carcinoma of squamous cells (24.56%) had the higher presentation. Only 55.76% were diagnosed before the month the diagnostic pillar most important was thorax radiography with 100 % of positivity.
