Abstract

MORALES MEDINA, Mercedes B; ACEA VALDES, María Amparo; OROZCO RODRIGUEZ, Sara  and  MENA FERNANDEZ, Magalys. Factors associated to violence in adolescents, Manuel de Jesús Secondary School Guaimaro 1999-2000. AMC [online]. 2003, vol.7, n.5, pp.547-559. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive study was carried out in students of Manuel de Jesus Urra secondary school of Güaimaro municipality from 1999 to 2000,with the aim of knowing factors related with violence in this group and the environment that sorrounds them. The study universe was composed of 390 students, out of them ,an epidemiological survey was applied to a representative sample select four our simple randomized study. This survey was the primary source for obtaining data and collected variables: age, sex, school level, academic record and marital status of parents, application of violence in adolescents, type and interpretation of it. Previously, a work-shop was performed which promoted the topic .Our research reached to the following conclusion the great majority of students have suffered violence ,mainly those of 12 years and masculine sex. Psychologic violence, almost always applied by mothers, prevailed. The majority of children see violence as normal. Divorced parents prevailed.
