A clinical, phase II controlled, and open randomized study was carried out in the Odontology clinic of "Previsora" Policlinic in Camagüey, from February to July 1999, with the aim of determining presence of pain during transoperatory in exodontics and effectiveness of postoperatory performed with acupuncture or conventional treatment according to the location, and the state of the tooth to be extracted. The sample was composed by 90 patients of both sexes, older than 15 years, to whom dental extraction was indicated. It was divided into two groups, study and control, integrated each of them by 45 patients. The assignation method was systematic, at random depending on the acceptance of persons who are gring to perform exodontics with acupunctural analgesia clinical anesthesia until the sample be completed for evaluating the effectiveness of acupunctural compared with the conventional treatment in the postoperatory of dental extractions and presence of transoperatory pain in booth groups as to localization and state of the tooth to be extracted. Acupunctural scheme were used acording to of the tooth, body points: Ig4, Ig20; E3, E4 E5, E6, E7, Id., I8, Vg62, Vc24, Ex Jiaghenjiang were employed. Treatment was ambulatory. After placing the needles the multipurpose equipament-KWD-808 II was used for the stimulation following all requirements for its practice. Good effectiveness in the great majority of patients treated with the use of the local anesthesia it was only 68,.88 % (P= 0.05), so we con clued that acupunctural therapy is highly effective composed with the conventional treatment in the postoperatory of dental extraction.
