Fifty patients diagnosed and treated for transient hip synovitis (THS) were subjected to an observational explicative study at Eduardo Agramonte Piña Provincial Hospital of Camagüey city from July to December 2002. Masculine sex significantly prevailed in the 68 %. The age groups with higher incidence were the up to 5 years and from 6 to 10 for a 50 and 34 %, respectively. Both hips were equally affected. Among the possible etiologic factors in patients with THS, it was found high respiratory infection and allergy with 46 and 40 %, respectively. The symptom that prevailed was pain and claudication associated to a 64 %. Fabere maneuvre was positive in the 90 % of patients. The 44 % of patients needed from 10 to 15 d for recovering. The complication imposed was that of claudication persistence in a 16 %. Factors associated to Legg Calvé Perthes´ disease (LCPD) were older than six years, presence or recurrence of two months or more and masculine sex. The LCPD presented in a 12 % of patients.
