SARDUY RAMOS, Carlos M; RODRIGUEZ PEREZ, Judit; BETANCOURT BETANCOURT, Gilberto e MARTINEZ CAMPOS, Ana María. Diagnostic clinical necropsic correlation in a polivalent intermediate care unit. AMC [online]. 2004, vol.8, n.3, pp. 80-91. ISSN 1025-0255.
A retrospective study of medical records was carried out for knowing the correlation existing among clinical diagnosis previous to death and and findings observed in necropsis performed in patients deceased in the uni of intermediate care at Manuel Ascunce Domenech Provincial Teaching Hospital of Camagüey from April 2002 to June 2003. The universe ascended to 194 patients. Men prevailed and those with 65 and more years. Clinical-necropsic correlation was completed in 173 patients (89, 1 %). In six out them (3, 1 %), necropsy evidenced findings which would have implicated a different management for the patients in they were known previously, in eight (4, 8 %) the main autopsic changes did not show changes in the management of the sick. In five necropsies (2, 6 %) secondary findings, associated to main, did not relate with the primary cause of death, and in only two sick these secondary findings could disturb prognosis in end-stage patients
