Abstract

VILAPLANA SANTALO, Carlos Antonio; POZO ROMERO, José Antonio; CORREA BORRELL, Mayda  and  MAZA BRAVO, Nitza. Postoperatory anaesthesia with Clorhidrate of Morphina by epidural via in histerectomized patients. AMC [online]. 2004, vol.8, n.5, pp.84-94. ISSN 1025-0255.

The relief of postoperatory pain constitutes one of the significant problems without solution in our field so motivated by this, an explicative, observational study, late phase II in the surgical Unit at Manuel Ascunce Domenech Provincial University Hospital was carried out from November 2000 to November 2002. Our purpose was to know the effective time of analgesia when administering Morphine Chlorhydrate via epidural, as well as its adverse effects. The effective time of analgesia was of 28,37 ± 4,13 h in group II (B-M) over group I (B) of 4,86 ± 1,46 h with significant differences (p< 0.01). The adverse effect more frequent was pruritus in a 26, 66 % in group II (B-M), followed by nauseas and vomiting in a 13, 33 and 10, 00 %, respectively, in the same group. Concluding, the epidural use of 2 mg of Morphine Chlorhydrate is effective to achieve postoperatory analgesia for more than 24 h and these adverse effects are not dangerous to the patient and are easily treated, which constitutes an adequate election for the anaesthesiologist in his daily work and also a drug of national manufacture.

Keywords : HISTERECTOMY; MORPHINE [administration]; MORPHINE [dosage]; ANALGESIA EPIDURAL [utilization].
