Within the jurisdiction of two family doctors offices which are branch offices of the Tula Aguilera Community Clinic, a descriptive study was conducted from January 2002 to January 2003 to determine alcoholism prevalence. The study, which involved 540 patients over age 15, sampled 117 at-risk patients through family history assessment and through polling. Male patients aged 35 to 44, who prevailed as both social and abusive drinkers, had as chief motivation the pursuit of pleasure and low self -esteem.
