Resumen

A descriptive study was conducted to assess the clinico-epidemiologic rate of vaginal infection among pregnant women from the 47 and 48 branch of the Eastern Clinic from March 2003 to March 2004. The methods involved were descriptive statistics and frequency rate distribution. The universe was composed of 14 pregnant women being cared for at two family doctors offices. The source was the clinical records. As it turned out, 57, 14 % of pregnant women were under age 20; 85, 71 % had vaginal infection, 91, 66 % were diagnosed in the first trimester, 50 % had bacterial vaginosis, 25 % had whitish-gray leucorrhea, 25 % of patients with Candida had leucorrhea and 16, 66 % of patients with yellowish leucorrhea had trichomoniasis. Upon completion of the study, 66, 67 % were symptomless patients testing negative for infection being diagnosed in the first trimester prevailed; bacterial vaginosis and whitish- gray leucorrhea prevailed too. Those who did not evolved favourably, after being treated with another therapy, did get rid of the infection.
