Resumen

SANCHEZ AGUILAR, José Raúl; DELGADO MARIN, Neyda  y  JIMENEZ MOREJON, Jalima. Pancreatic pseudocyst in children. AMC [online]. 2005, vol.9, n.4, pp.136-146. ISSN 1025-0255.

Pancreatic pseudocyst occurs as the most common complication among 8 % to 10 % of children after an acute pancreatitis or trauma. Pain in multiple injury patients may prove hard to asses. A rise in serum amylase content, which may take place 12 hours following the trauma, is the most relevant laboratory datum that causes alarm-though such a rise also accompanies intestine piercing and mesenteric thrombosis. Symptoms and signs often do not show up until an advanced stage pancreatic cyst is manifest. Yet the patient sometimes remains symptomless till a tumor is evident through ultrasound scanning. As the condition proves troublesome for the surgeon to diagnose and treat both surgically and medically, we reviewed the literature on the subject.

Palabras clave : AMYLASES [diagnostic use]; PANCREATIC CYST [complications]; PANCREATITIS ACUTE NECROTIZING; CHILD; PANCREATIC NEOPLASMS.
