A descriptive study was conducted at the Ismael Clark Mascaró and La Vigía dental clinics from November 2000 to May 2004 to assess 120 elderly patients with partial prosthesis. Some patients are cared for at the 36, 38,39,40,43 and 63 family physician offices, which are branch offices of the Western Healthcare Bureau, whereas some patients are care for at the 1, 2, and 58 branches offices of the North Healthcare Bureau. The study was structured into four stages to group patients by age and sex to assess partial prosthesis-related mouth alterations by age, sex, duration of use and type of prosthetic device. According to results, female patients and patients aged 60-69 showed 66-40 % of mouth alterations such as dental wear (78, 89 %), parondotic alterations (76, 64 %), and caries (70, 50 %), and bone reabsorption (64, 06 %). Prosthesis older than 10 years prevailed and acrylic partial bracers were the most harmful.
