Abstract

A descriptive study was performed so as to characterize the histopathologic and clinical-humoral findings in patients with kidney transplant at Manuel Ascunce Domenech Hospital in Camagüey, from January 1998 to December 2002. The universe was compose of 138 biopsies carried out 62 patients with kidney transplant, diagnosed by the recent classification of Banff 1997 for rejection, so it was introduced in the province. It was taken into account the study o different histopathologic entities to rejection, which affected the evolutive course of the transplant. It was confirmed that the greater part of ages was among 31 to 40 years with 19 cases (30, 65 %) and the first month of the transplant was the period  in which the greater quantity of biopsies 43 (31, 15 %) were carried out. Among classification categories of Banff prevailed those corresponding to the rejection, and out of them the acute rejection, grade 1-A, with 36 categories (26 %), the acute tubular necrosis was the non-inmunological entity more observed in 27 entities (27 %) and the increasing of creatinine the humoral clinical criterium more used with 124 criteria (91, 85 %).
