CHAVEZ PARDO, Iris et al. Retinous venous thrombosis after surgery: Two case report after surgical treatment. AMC [online]. 2005, vol.9, n.6, pp. 118-124. ISSN 1025-0255.
This paper reports on two cases of retinal vein occlusion associated to narrow-angle glaucoma that were assessed through visual acuteness test, biomicroscopy; tonometry, and indirect opthalmoscopy with 3 year follow up. In both patients, funduscopy showed aplical papillary excavation, winding veneous occlusion with either superficial or deep hind pole retinal haemorrhage, and retinal edema all coincidental with 500 mmHg high ocular tension. After treatment with ocular hypotensors and antiglaucomous surgery (trabeculaectomy) funduscopic status regresion accompanied by vision comeback and intraocular pressure normalization was achieved within a 3-14 week period. The main risk factors for venous occlusive disease were glaucoma and systemic high blood pressure.
