Abstract

Background: A descriptive, cross-sectional, case and control study was conducted on 120 adolescents at 10 family physician offices that are branched to the Mario Muñoz Monroy Polyclinic, from January to December 2003. The purpose was to assess emotional disorders in adolescents with alcoholic kin. As it turned out, female, mid-term youths prevailed; anxiety and the need for affection and support were reported in 70 % of cases, whereas poor interpersonal relations were reported in 68.33 % of cases. Home-based conflict and refusal of it rose to 73.3 %, whereas the home-school bond was deemed unsatisfactory in 66.6 % of cases. The dysfunctional type of family prevailed
