Resumen

SUAREZ MONNET, Denis; MEDRANO GARCIA, Roberto  y  LOPEZ DELGADO, Hubiel. Factores pronóstico del trauma craneoencefálico moderado: Comportamiento en un período de un añoPrognosis factors for mild cranioencephalic trauma: A one year prevalence study. AMC [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.3, pp.38-50. ISSN 1025-0255.

The mortality rate of serious neurotrama reaches 70 to 80 %. However, through fast and effective rescue, early surgery, intensive care, and modern surveillance and control equipment that rate can be significantly reduced. A descriptive, retrospective and prospective study was conducted from January to December 2003 to assess, prevent and minimize secondary injuries that influence the patient’s condition. The sample enrolled 34 patients diagnosed with mild cranial trauma and with a Glasgow score of 13 to 9, who had been admitted to the Manuel Ascunce Domenech teaching Hospital. Patients aged 31-45 prevailed. Age was proportional to risk for death. Early hospital admission guaranteed fast medical care and diminished secondary injuries. Other factors for bad prognosis were radiologic abnormalities, either encephalic or extraneurologic ones. Arterial hypotension, hypoxy, endocranial hypertension and tomographic abnormalities were also signs for bad prognosis though clinic evidences must be taken into consideration when predicting. Prevention of all factors for a bad prognosis caused the mortality rate to decrease and improved neurologic recovery.
