Abstract

CASTELL AVELLO, Rolando; CAPOTE BETANCOURT, Aimee  and  RAMIREZ MILAN, Obdulia. Sporadic congenital solitary liver cysts. AMC [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.4, pp.39-45. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive study was carried out to four patients that underwent surgery at the Amalia Simoni General Hospital. These patients were studied for a 4 year period 1997-2001. The most frequent age of onset was over 60, being females the prevailing patients. Three of the cysts were located on the right hypochondrium pain as a general symptom and tumor, upon palpation. Ultrasonography proved the most useful diagnostic test. Enucleation-though not the most recommended procedure was the prevailing one. The only complication (outer biliary fistula) occurred in only one patient and resolved spontaneously. No patient died.

Keywords : BILIARY FISTULA [complications]; BONE CYSTS; ULTRASONOGRAPHY.
