Abstract

QUINTANA SOUZA, Rider; LOPEZ MAYEDO, Javier  and  PACHECO TELLEZ, Francisco. Surgical compress left in cavity for fourteen years. A case report. AMC [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.4, pp.99-107. ISSN 1025-0255.

This paper reports on white, 52 year female who sought care for two abdominal holesthat discharged a fetid fluid. The patient, whose urine smelled the same as the abdominal fluid, under went surgery for abdominal and vaginal fecal fistulae. Upon performing laparotomy, a compress that had been left in cavity fourteen years back after hysterectomy was found. Upon performing colon resection, a textiloma- associated tumor was found, according to histologic examination, it was an adenocarcinoma.
