Abstract

A descriptive study was carried out from May to February 2005 to the schoolchildren of the primary school “Granma” from Camagüey municipality. The sample was constituted by 60 schoolchildren. An structured interview was applied to determine the information level about oral-health an the periodontal disease. Shour & Massler’s previous PMA index and Love collaborators, the one regarding to oral hygiene. The most frequent local risk factors of the periodontal disease also were explored. Gingivitis prevailed in the 90 % of the schoolchildren and among them, mild gingivitis was the commonest. The information level was evaluated of wrong in more than a half of the children and the 80 % presented a deficient tooth brushing. Dentobacterian plaque and the dental tartar were the local risk factors most frequent.
