Abstract

An experimental study in the neuroendocrinology lab of Colima´s University was carried out, with the objective to measure the action of the nitric oxide (NO) in the capture cerebral glucose, after the stimulation with sodium cyanide (NaCN-5µg/100g) of the carotid body receptors (RCC).The experiments were performed with anaesthetized rats (280-310 g), kept with artificial breathing at 25°C of temperature .Protocols were the fallowing: a) control I, perfusion in cisterna magna (CM) of artificial cerebrospinal fluid LCRa(5µL/30s);b) control II,ERC in simultaneous way with the perfusion of LCRa; c)perfusion of a donor of NO (nitroglicerine )(NG-3µg/5µL of LCRa) in CM ;d) ERC in simultaneous way with NG in CM; e) perfusion of a inhibitor of NO ( L-NAME)(250µg/5µL of LCRa );f) ERC in simultaneous way with L-NAME in CM.Results indicated that the combination of NG with ERC do not change the retention of the cerebral glucose, while in the controls, the NG alone in creased the cerebral retention of glucose. On the contrary, the L-NAME in combination with ERC increased the capture of the cerebral glucose, which indicated that nitric oxide played a modulator role in the hyperglycaemic answer in hypoxia stages.
