Abstract

PEDROSO FILIBERTO, Eduardo; ALONSO RODRIGUEZ, Dalyla  and  MORENO TELLEZ, Ela. Oxidative stress in the congenital cardiopathy. AMC [online]. 2007, vol.11, n.3. ISSN 1025-0255.

The desbalance between the EROS production and the antioxidant defense causes an organic damage known as oxidative stress, and it has been seen implied in the etiology and pathology of numerous illnesses. With the objective to study the oxidative stress in children we take a group of easy tests to carry out in our laboratories, as well as different groups of patients that came to the consultations of the paediatrics specialty polyclinic of Camagüey in a period of three months with the diagnosis of acyanotic congenital cardiopathy (n=30), cyanotic congenital cardiopathy (n=20) and a control group (n=50), to all of them was carried out determination in serum of albumin, bilirubin, ceruloplasmin, uric acid, vitamin C to value antioxidant capacity, and levels of LDL oxidized as oxidative stress marker. Results were statistically evaluated in relation to the control group, high levels of bilirubin were detected, uric acid and LDL-OXIDIZED, as well as reduced figures of vitamin C and ceruloplasmin, the albumin levels were not modified, it kept in the normal rank.
