A descriptive study in adults with an absent molar was carried out with the objective to describe the behavior of the masticatory guidelines in relation to the craniomadibular dysfunction. The study sample was complied with the first 20 patients that came to be valued in the prosthesis department at "Ismael Clark y Mascaró" Provincial Educational Odontology Clinic of Camagüey, from December 2003 to September 2005 with the interest to be integrated at the study. A clinical phase of functional and morphological exploration was developed, to diagnose the craniomadibular dysfunction Krough Paulsen Test  was applied, the presence of triggering elements of stress was evaluated. Among the masticatory guidelines predominated the canine bilateral function; the canine intercrossing of 1/3 of crown and the overjet from 0 to 3 mm grouped the major number of examined patients. More than the half of patients presented temporomandibular dysfunction with predominance of the function in group, while, those examined patients without dysfunction stood out the canine bilateral function. Elements of stress in almost the half of individuals were detected, which mostly presented craniomandibular dysfunction.
