^les^aSe invoca el papel de la hemostasia en las consecuencias más frecuentes de la ateroesclerosis (la trombosis y la embolia). En la revisión se abordan aspectos actuales acerca de la relación hemostasia ateroesclerosis, destacándose sobre todo los mecanismos fibrinolíticos, que participan en la recanalización del vaso sanguíneo para que fluya libremente la sangre, como factores importantes de este proceso. Así mismo se trae a colación el papel que desempeñan los componentes células (plaquetas) y plasmáticos (factores de la coagulación) que intervienen en la formación del trombo, y su relación con el metabolismo lipídico. Finalmente se presentan alternativas dietéticas y medicamentosas para el mejoramiento del perfil hemostático, dada la importancia de todo médico y profesional de la salud se deben conocer con el objetivo de su divulgación, así se refleja el trabajo de prevención comunitaria y docente de salud.^len^aThe role of hemostasia is invoke in the most frequent consequences of the atherosclerosis (the thrombosis and the embolism). In the revision, current aspects about hemostasia atherosclerosis relation are exposed, being emphasized above all the fibrinolytic mechanisms, that participate in the recanalization of the blood vessel so as to the blood flows freely, as important factors of this process. As well as the role that perform the cells’ components (platelets) and plasmatic (coagulation factors) that intervene in the formation of the thrombus, and its relation with the lipid metabolism. Finally medicamentosus and dietetic alternatives for the improvement of the hemostatic profile are presented, given by the importance of every doctor and health professional  should be known with the objective of its disclosure, thus it reflects the work of the community and educational prevention of health.
