Abstract

JIMENEZ ULEY, Leslie Naynet; MIRANDA NARANJO, Madelin; QUIROS ALUIJA, Yaneisis  and  MARTIN PEREZ, Odalys. Application of educational actions to modify risk factors of dental caries in children of the doctor's office # 40. AMC [online]. 2007, vol.11, n.4. ISSN 1025-0255.

An intervention study in 50 children from six to 13 years-old of the doctor's office # 40, at Previsora, in Camagüey municipality, was carried out, which constituted the universe of the study in the period 2003-2005; an interview to the children and parents to know the information level about the oral health before to receive the educational actions, was conducted. The state of the risk factors to modifiable dental caries before and after the application of the educational actions, was determined as well as the classification of the children according to dental caries. After been analyzed each one of them we all agree with the majority of authors that express the positive influence of  educational actions in the modification of dental caries risk factors: oral hygiene, ph salivary, diet, gingival illness and the presence of active caries, besides a favorable positive change in the classification of children of high risk to low risk dental caries, was achieved.
