CALDERIN MARIN, Osaida; MACHADO DEL RISCO, Edilberto; MORALES MENENDEZ, María  and  GONZALEZ ABREU, José V. Association of the asthma in children with other allergic diseases. AMC [online]. 2008, vol.12, n.1. ISSN 1025-0255.

A non-coupled case control study with the objective to evaluate the allergic diseases associated to the bronchial asthma in asthmatic patients from 5 to 12 years-old was conducted belonging to «José Luis Tasende» Primary School of the Center Teaching Community Polyclinic of Camagüey municipality from January 2004 to July 2006. The sample was constituted by 60 asthmatic and 40 healthy children that served as controls. To the total of children included in the investigation, according to selection criteria immunological test in vivo (Prick Test) and in vitro Immunoglobuline E (Ig_E) was applied. For the Prick Test were utilized as antigens acarids and anemophile mushrooms: Dermatophagoides Pteronyssinus, Dermatophagoides Siboney, Blomia Tropical, Monilia, Penicilliun, Aspergillus, Rhizopus, Alternaria, Cladosporium, to concentration of Biological Units and UNP, respectively. Predominance of the male sex existed and the age groups that prevailed were from 7 to 8 years-old and from 9 to 10 years-old. The asthma was predominant as family pathological antecedent and in diseases associated to asthma the rhinitis occupied the greater percent with a 36.6%. The cutaneous positivity to allergens was greater than acarids that to anemophile mushrooms, acarids of greater positivity were Dermatophagoides Pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides Siboney and among the mushrooms Penicilliun, Rhizopus and Alternaria were found. Values of (Ig E) behaved in asthmatic children in the 75% in more than 200 UI/ml and in children with asthma and associated nhynitis in the 81.8% with more than 200 UI/ml.
