PILA PEREZ, Rafael; PILA PELAEZ, Rafael and DEL SOL SOSA, Juan. Infectious mononucleosis secondary to thrombocytopenic purpura: A Case report. AMC [online]. 2008, vol.12, n.1. ISSN 1025-0255.
A case of infectious mononucleosis associated with the presence of thrombocytopenic purpura is reported, this association is extremely rare, that only appears in the 0.2 to 0.6% of this disease. The rupture of the immunological equilibrium between B lymphocytes and T lymphocytes subvarieties may cause among other dysregulation phenomena appreciated in this patient, to the apparition of antibodies set against the platelets that justify the purpura. Usual clinical and biological data, as well as some of the atypical manifestations of the entity this paper summarizes. It is concluded that in the face of any acute thrombocytopenic purpura supposedly idiopathic, it is necessary to consider this disease as a possible cause
