Hyphema usually indicates severe intraocular trauma and it is presented in trauma with open or closed eyeball. Its complications include intraocular hypertension (intraocular pressure greater than 25 mmHg in the 25% of the cases hematic impregnation of the cornea, formation of anterior and posterior synechias, cataracts and a variety of pathological changes related indirectly. The traumatic hyphema can reduce significantly the vision. It is a very frequent disease in children and in the male sex (traumatic). The hyphema is one of the ocular lesions easiest to detect; according to the traditional teaching of the evaluation of the traumatized patient, by means of the intentional searching of the lesions, at identifying the hyphema management should be established, to suspect the existence of a serious intraocular lesion and to watch the apparition of intraocular hypertension. It is classified into four categories, depending on the severity of the lesion (quantity of blood in the anterior chamber), content, evolution time. In spite of its complications and aftereffects with the technology advance in Ophthalmology, its reabsorption with opportune and adequate treatment has been achieved.
