Abstract

PILA PEREZ, Rafael; PILA PELAEZ, Rafael  and  HOLGUIN PRIETO, Víctor. Neuropathic arthropathy of the knee: an infrequent disease . A case report. AMC [online]. 2008, vol.12, n.3. ISSN 1025-0255.

A case of a neuropathic arthropathy is described in the course of a type 1 diabetes mellitus with bad metabolic control of approximately 15 years of evolution, very rare disease in our medium, but more infrequent still with localization in the knee joint in a 40-years-old patient. The cause, pathogeny, clinical picture, diagnosis of the entity and its differential diagnosis, as well as the treatment are revised. It is concluded that Charcot´s neuroarthropathy is a disease with great diagnostic difficulty for which before the presence of inflammation and edema of the foot or an articulation in a diabetic patient with sensitive-motor neuropathy in lower extremities should think about this disease

Keywords : Charcot- Marie-Tooth disease [etiology].
