^les^aFundamento: La parálisis cerebral (PC) constituye potencialmente una limitación para la expectativa de vida. Objetivo: Evaluar el comportamiento de la mortalidad y sus causas en niños afectados por la parálisis cerebral infantil. Método: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo de pacientes portadores de esta afección, fallecidos en edades menores de 15 años y nacidos en el período 1986-2005 en la provincia de Camagüey, 58 en total. Resultados: El mayor número de muertes ocurrió en edades de un año o menos, nueve pacientes (15,51%) y a los 13 años siete (12,06%). La causa de muerte reportada fue en el 100% de los pacientes la sepsis respiratoria. Conclusiones: Se les realizó el estudio post-mortem a un bajo número de pacientes ocho (13,8%), lo que llamó la atención.^len^aBackground: The cerebral paralysis potentially constitutes a limitation for life expectancy.
