Background: High blood pressure constitutes one of the great challeges of the modern medicine for its extraordinary prevalence. Objective: To identify some factors related to the no adherence to the antihypertensive treatment. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study in patients of the doctor's offices 25, 26 and 67 was performed at «Tula Aguilera» polyclinic, of Camagüey city from January to July 2007. The universe was represented by the total of patients that did not comply or partially complied with the antihypertensive medical treatment according to medical orientations (230); identified during the health actions of the Basic Team of Health. Results: It was found that male sex adhered less (71, 73%) than the female one with (28,27%), that to greater education smaller adhesion (66,95%), just like the solitude with (63,91%), no adherent patients presented more complications, the combined therapy (60%) hampered the adhesion and the disease subevaluation (63,04%) was the psychological factor more determinant to the no adherence. Conclusions: It was achieved to show that factors as male sex, education, solitude, combined therapies, disease subevaluation induced to the no adherence of the antihypertensive treatment.
