A bibliographical and updated revision was carried out on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with acute dislocation of patella, analyzing important aspects as predisposing factors, production mechanism, positive diagnosis, imaging and treatment, whereinto emphasis is made in the surgical indications in patients that present this traumatic disease for the first time.
