Abstract

Background: knee arthrofibrosis or loss of the articular movement after a traumatism or surgical intervention is one of the most difficult management complications in this articulation. Development: a bibliographical review on knee arthrofibrosis was performed, one of the most devastating complications in this articulation. We propose several classifications to focus and to offer prognosis. We analyze the risk factors and how they influence in the development of this disease. In the diagnosis we highlight the importance of the precocious diagnosis as well as the causes of loss of the articular movement in flexion and extension. With regard to the treatment we emphasize the importance of prevention of this complication by means of the immediate rehabilitation and we show the most used surgical variants currently for the treatment of this disease emphasizing in the surgery by means of small incisions.
