Method: an educational intervention strategy was conducted in the Odontology Department at the University polyclinic Julio Antonio Mella, in Camagüey, from October 2007 to July 2008. The universe was made up of 25 patients who were attended in the prosthesis service and the sample was constituted by 18 patients selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: the female sex was the most representative. Concerning age groups, the range between 18 and 27 years old was the most prevalent. In all the eccentric mandibular movements, occlusal interferences were present in both, balance and work sides. The most common dysfunctions are: limitations of the oral openings and deviation of the middle line. Myofascial pain, as main symptom of this disease, was present at the majority of patients attended.
