Abstract

QUESADA AGUILERA, Jorge Antonio; QUESADA AGUILERA, Enso  and  RODRIGUEZ SOCARRAS, Nuria. Different approach for epidemiologic stratification of dengue. AMC [online]. 2012, vol.16, n.1, pp.109-123. ISSN 1025-0255.

Background: Cuba maintains the permanent risk of introduction of dengue, the identification of higher risk territories; it is essential to effectively address this problem. Objective: to assess the use of certain risk factors that may be used for stratification of dengue and best-known methods to be carried out. Development: a documentary review was performed in diverse sources for more information about the introduction of dengue risk factors, as well as the different methods used for spatial analysis of this disease. In the present research are described in detail the three first steps to perform the stratification of dengue as a diagnosis-intervention-evaluation integrated process. In addition some of the advantages or limitations were exposed to bear in mind when selecting indicators and determine the choice of stratification. Conclusions: the final decision of which method should be used and what variables should be chosen is a real dilemma for the investigator, because any of them could be perfectly useful for proposed purposes.
