^les^aFundamento: la biopsia por aspiración con aguja fina se aplica con frecuencia en mujeres operadas de cáncer mamario. Objetivo: analizar los resultados de la citología aspirativa con aguja fina en mujeres operadas de cáncer mamario. Método: se realizó un estudio analítico transversal en el Hospital Oncológico Madame Curie. El universo abarcó 440 operadas de cáncer de mama, de ellas 80 constituyeron la muestra por muestreo probabilístico aleatorio, entre los años 2008-2010. Se estudió el resultado de la citología aspirativa con aguja fina y los de la biopsia posoperatoria. Resultados: el 86,25 % de las mujeres fueron citologías positivas de células neoplásicas. Se obtuvo positividad de células neoplásicas en los resultados de la mamografía en 81,25 %, ocupa la mayor incidencia el carcinoma ductal infiltrante convencional, existió correspondencia entre la biopsia inicial y la biopsia final con los diagnósticos de carcinoma lobulillar infiltrante, carcinoma ductal infiltrante convencional, para un 16,6 % y 83,3 % respectivamente. En general los resultados obtenidos evidencian la efectividad con que se desarrolló este método diagnóstico lo cual tiene gran repercusión en la conducta terapéutica y en la efectividad del tratamiento. Estadísticamente se comprobó coincidencia significativa entre citología aspirativa y biopsia posoperatoria. Conclusiones: los resultados de la citología aspirativa con aguja fina se pueden considerar efectivos al obtener coincidencia diagnóstica con la biopsia posoperatoria en más de las tres cuartas partes de las mujeres. Sólo una minoría resultaron falsos negativos.^len^aBackground: fine needle aspiration biopsy is often applied in women operated of breast cancer. Objective: to analyze the results of fine needle aspiration cytology in women operated of breast cancer. Method: a cross-sectional analytical study was conducted in the Oncological Hospital Madame Curie. The universe included 440 operated women of breast cancer, of which 80 were sampled by probabilistic random sampling, from 2008 to 2010. The results of postoperative biopsy and fine needle aspiration cytologies were studied. Results: the 86,25 % of women were positive cytologies of neoplastic cells. Positivity of neoplastic cells in the results of mammography in 81,25 % was obtained, conventional infiltrating ductal carcinoma occupied the highest incidence, there was correspondence between the initial and final biopsy with diagnoses of infiltrating lobular carcinoma and conventional infiltrating ductal carcinoma to 16,6% and 83,3% respectively. In general, results showed the effectiveness this diagnostic method was developed which has great impact on therapeutic behavior and on treatment effectiveness. It was found statistically significant coincidence between aspiration cytology and postoperative biopsy. Conclusions: results of fine needle aspiration cytology can be considered as effective in obtaining diagnostic coincidence with postoperative biopsy in more than three-quarters of women. Only a minority were false negatives.
