Background: tricompartimental osteoarthritis of the knee is one of the most common conditions that medical doctors face every day, this disease is usually associated to factors that may modified the responds to different kinds of treatment. Objective: the aim of this study was to show the behavior of patients with tricompartimental osteoarthritis of the knee. Method: a descriptive and observational study was performed in 35 patients with the diagnosis of tricompartimental osteoarthritis of the knee according to clinical, radiographic and arthroscopic criteria in the provincial teaching hospital Manuel Ascunce Domenech in Camaguey city from December 1 st 2012 to February 28 th 2013. Results: female sex prevailed with a proportion female - male of 2,8 to 1. A 31,4 % of the patients were included in the age group from 40 to 49 years. The 51,4 % were graded as 4 according to the radiographic classifications of Kellgram and Lawrence. The majority of the patients were found in grade IV taking into account arthroscopic classification of Outerbridge RE. All the patients presented bad prognostic factors and of them, rest pain was found in the 80 %. Arthroscopic washout was the procedure must use in the 94,3 % of the patients. Conclusions: female sex prevailed and there is a strong association to the highest grades of Kellgram and Lawrence and Outerbridge RE classifications. Arthroscopic washout was applied in the majority of the patients
