Abstract

MOYA, Aniel et al. Evaluación de la respuesta de anticuerpos hacia antígenos de     Pseudomonas  aeruginosa. Vaccimonitor [online]. 2007, vol.16, n.1, pp.5-10. ISSN 1025-028X.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an extracellular pathogen which elicits a specific antibody response useful for diagnosis and vaccines. The aim of the present study was to evaluate in human serum the levels of antibodies against relevant antigens of P. aeruginosa. Determination of IgG antibodies against three exoenzymes, considered as virulence factors of great importance in infections, was carried out. Then, evaluation of IgG and IgA recognition towards antigens of the outer membrane was performed by ELISA of whole cells. All the evaluated sera showed IgG and IgA titers higher than those of the healthy individuals, with exception of two patients' samples that did not show high titers. This assay allowed the analysis of the recognition level towards the most exposed antigens of the bacterium mainly including LPS and outer membrane proteins. . Differences were found among optical density values at 450 nm of healthy and sick individuals. The method used allowed to select two patients' serum of different types of infections which were compared by Western blot. It was observed that although the sera reacted against different serotypes of P. aeruginosa, the recognition intensity varied according to the type of infection
