Effect of Ocimun sanctun L. (albahaca morada) on glycemia of normal mice, weighing from 20 to 25 g, was studied. Hypoglycemic effect of intraperitoneal dose of Ocimun sanctun (0,5-20 % ) within 2 and 4 hours, post-administration of extract, was measured. Analysis of findings was based on a linear model to describe possible variatons of glycemia over the time. Slopes of described straight lines to each of dose, showed that Ocimun sanctun L. lead to decrease of glycemia (5 to 22 mg/dL/h). Between study dose, there weren´t significant differences.
